Steps to becoming an Imagineer

Ok, my dream is to eventually become an imagineer. I would like to write the stories for attractions and make models of them and ride them before anyone else. It's just...I don't know what to do. What classes at high school can I take to make my goal come closer? Can somebody give me steps on what to do if I want to design rides and attraction. I'm gonna need it if I ever want to achieve my dream.:mickey: :smile:

I think this should help you out:


Try taking an art class or architecture class. The better you are at drawing your ideas, the better your chances at getting a job at WDI.


Now, if you ever wan't to create an idea, here's something to help you out:


Don't just have something pop into your mind and post it, give it some time to think about the idea.

Don't automaticly go to Disney Channel or Pixar for an idea.

Think as attractions not as rides or shows, but as an adventure that the average person can't usually expirience. Think of an expirience, and try making guests step back or forward in time to the era of your expirience, and make the theme fit well to the park you put it in, making it unique.

Try not to spare any detail in anything you create. Think it out from the expirience itself, the buildings, to the new shops and food areas around it that fit with the theme.


Once you do this, you will be able to master the art of Imagineering. :cool:

I think the first step is to figure out exactly what type of engineer you are looking to become and then see if and/or how it relates to creating rides and their concepts.

There are many different types people with different titles and areas of profession that work on a single ride from start to finish.

If your school offers it, a Computer Aided Design course would be extremely helpful, though you may get that in architecture.

taking a CADD class and Graphics design class should help you along your course, learning how to use Illustrator, Photoshop, and Flash will only help your chances and getting your job at WDI

Just do something you absolutely love (that would get you into imagineering) and expand on that. I love writing, and I'm beginning to write a story that I'd like to publish. Just build your knowledge on that subject, and go as far as you possibly can. I think you could become an imagineer if you can prove you have the knowledge and passion to pursue that job.

Anyone can believe they're an Imagineer in their mind and come up with great ideas, but unfortionately that's as far as they'll ever get.
If you want good chances for actually becoming one, you'll obviously have to work for it, and it will take a lot of work.
First comes education, whatever level you are now, be on top of everything, even your mandatory classes like English, math, History, etc., along with electives, like, I would suggest art and architexture.
Don't neglect any class, if you're a top student, you have a much better chance at getting in a good college or University that have your path desires.
Just don't mess up now, because school for most people now, even if it doesn't seem, will matter in the future when it comes to getting out in life.

If you want to design rides, physics is a must, as well as an engineering course. As far as college goes, an art college or school of design would be your best option.

alot of past imagineers have worked in the park before....
try getting an internship... thats what im planning to do...

Does being an Imagineer mean ONLY working in robotics? Cause I stink at technology, but I LOVE to draw. I could do concept art or maybe storylines.

imagineers include anything from ride conceptions and (painting and drawing)
the possibilities are endless
even construction workers are considered imagineers

Say we don't really know what type of field of engineering or architecture we want to go into, or just don't have the resources or classes at our schools...does anyone know any good websites??
