View Full Version : Could DCA be turned into Disney Sea?

You know, I was just thinking about this, and it could be very possible.

The whole enterance area could be torn down and the hotel miracosta could be built, and the whole mediterranian harbor area could be built into there.

Hollywood Pictures Backlot could be changed to look like the New York area, therefor, they could keep ToT ( but retheme it ) and build the fake ocean liner.

Mysterious Island and the Volcano can be built at the center of the park. With the New England Coast line, and Discovery harbor, and Arabian Coast could be built into the parking lot.

They could keep Paradise Pier since its themed as a coastline pier, but the overhaul could have it fit into the park with the new Victorian Era themeing.

This could all work very well. Your thoughts?

Not only would everything have to be scaled down (DCA is very small) but Disney doesn't need to destroy an already good park for a carbon copy of something that already works somewhere else. DisneySea works because of its location; DCA works because it's in California.

It just depends. But it will take a long time. But if you think about it. I'm guessing not.

well it could work but why? DCA is a great park that needs a make over that is in the works already. if that doesnt work than maybe in like 10 years lets talk, that is my fillings only, not trying to hurt anyone!

Has anyone been by the old Marineland site recently? What's there? As long as we're fantasizing, how about buying that whole tip of the point and putting a Disney Sea there?

I don't want to completely shoot down your idea here, but no this would not work at all. Having been to DisneySea, I can tell the park is far too awe-inspiring, detailed, and really way too huge to put in DCA's plot that backs up to Katella. You might be able to fit Meditteranean Harbor in there with Mt. Prometheus backing it up, but that'd be about it.

But the comparison is something I was doing a LOT while I was there, if for no other reason than to just laugh about the fact DCA is a complete joke as a 2nd gate by comparison.

Here're some pictures I shot at DisneySea...

To give some scale, here's a look across a bridge for the Electric Railway at the Cape Cod area of American Waterfront with Tower of Terror looming in the background

Now not to be rude or anything, but where you put all of THAT in Disneyland's old parking lot? =P

Tokyo DisneySea is more than three times as large as DCA. It would never work unless they really scaled it down, which would be pointless in my opinion. I wouldn't want to see another DisneySea unless it could be given a proper budget and enough space.

Not for nothing, but it's a horrible idea. I'm not bashing you, and I know what you're trying to do, but DCA is way to small for DisneySea (and it's not even by a body of water, so it makes no sense).

Now, if DisneySea was to ever come to DLR, it would have to be placed next to a body of water a few miles away from the main DLR area. I made a DisneySea style park for DLR once, so if you want any ideas, you can read this:http://www.visionsfantastic.com/forum/showthread.php?t=12529

one question what would be the point in creating a replica of the park and make it smaller. one park that was a recreation that was even bigger was the magic kingdom in WDW. with that being bigger it still didn't work well, DL is still better. with that being said why would you want a small replica of a park?

I really think NOT...
First of all: you talk about massive reinvestment, shortly after a basic investment (DCA) has been made. Investors will give a sigh of disbelief onto such a financial fantasy... (Its not the theoretical "could be done" but the down to earth "could be done" that counts)
Second: DCA is smaller then Tokyo Sea, if you keep the fun-fair (Pier), then there is really just cramped space left... Want to compress an idea that needs space, and end up with a ridiculous bad dropoff from Tokyo?
Third: Tokyo sea, themes water, and WAS sea level from the beginning. DCA is not even flat. For water going around completely, you need lots of dikes, digging etc etc ...
Fourth: The biggest error Disney made in distributing parks around the world is : Copying themselves... If every park would be really different, there was a reaason to travel to see more. Tokyo sea was the very first Disney themepark wich was UNIQUE. (And the best until now). Oh yes... objectively, DCA is the baddest. Really below level of everything. (There you have a point when you say: torn down !!! :) ) But, IF you torn down... then imagine something 100% new again... There is the added value, not in the copy of the other one. Let every park be a unique one...
(DISNEY: from now on , PLEASE STOP COPYING YOURSELF FOREVER....)
Fifth: As Tokyo sea actually IS at the sea, there is the sea-horizon feeling.... wich is IMPOSSIBLE to realise within the buildup cityscape of Anaheim.
