View Full Version : Disney people may be watching

I was just listening to Inside the Magic and I heard a news clip stating that Disney IS surffing the web looking at Disney fan sites to gather information on the opinions of all the people. It looks like Disney is actually listening to everyone's opinion so the next time you choose to voice your opinion, it might actually be worth something since Disney could actually be listening to you.
Whoever it was that wished for Disney to look at this board, your wish may come true.

Wow, that's kind of creepy the way I see it. But it's also kind of flattering that Disney wants to know what we think! :) If Disney people are looking a this thread right now, I say look at some of the ideas in the So You Wanna Be an Imagineer section. We have very creative people on this site!

My dad thinks Disney has officials around the parks listening to ideas of park guests, as my dad claims that he came up with an idea similar to FastPass before it came out. :p

Thank you very much markmansion, for bringing that to our attention!!!!
This is something that I mentioned in another thread, about a week or so ago.
I feel this alone, is one of the biggest reasons that VF is an excellent source of opinion and direction for anyone (read: marketing and such people) who is interested in the public viewpoint!:p

We feel special. Right? I mean people from Disney reading almost all the thing in this site and reading our ideas, opinions, and suggestions probably makes us feel special.:p If the Disney people are reading this, find Walt Disney's Parade of a Million Dreams, I think, and read it. Because it has stuff of what you can do to the Parade of Dreams for the Year of a Million Dreams. And thank goodness that you guys are having the HM in WDW under refurb.

If Disney is reading my post right now, HI! I do hope that they are reading the great ideas in this forum, and it would be so cool if they could actually make some of these truly amazing ideas (Disney's America; etc. ) a reality

That idea has always runned around my head since I knew about this forums online...
I always wondered WHY people involved in these things (see: author, actors, directors, musicians, bands, artist) never participate in these forums, or never read these forums.
According to them, they say they "never read fan forums" (And I can understand, sometimes fans can be very offensive, and critics can be strong)
But anyway they?re missing a valuable thing: people?s opinions about they works, and... by the way, explendind ideas.
If Disney read this, good!
See here we are very imaginary too

jagfkb: I have read over your Disney America overview. To say that I am pretty impressed with the thought and detail, that a 13 yr old person has put into this, is to say the very least, much more than impressive. I am a sales and marketing professional, and have been for a good while now, and have seen overviews and projection plans, from "veteran pros" that dont even come close. Keep on going like this, and I feel, you have a very bright future ahead of you!!!!!! Dont ever give up on your dreams!!!! Walt didnt, and look what happened.

My bad, I'm an idiot!!!! However, I still mean everything I said, I just got the name of it wrong!!!!!
I've always thought this and never doubted it. Hey Disney people! Have you seen my Space Mountain fireworks?!

Ok here is my input.
Have Disney Channel bring back classic Disney programs like Magical-Wonderful World of Disney, & MMC (at least play some classic cartoons for crying out loud,.. remember "Quack Attack" etc...)
I am sure this is asking for the impossible, but maybe even have a "Classic" Disney Channel for us somewhat older fans. If you remember this was the bulk of the content that many of us were happy to "Pay" for about 15 years ago.
And I would love to see another show like "Inside Out" I mean it wouldn't be too hard to send a host & a small camera crew to Disneyland once a week, & just do a 30-min show on an attraction, or a show, or just about anything. This would be a way for the rest of us to visit the park every week. (not to mention help us crave it as a vacation destination,.. hint hint)
And if If I could only make one request for the park, it would be to bring back the "PeopleMover"
Disney_Guy

Woah, hey CostaFreak?
Maybe you do have a chance after all.
(For those of you who don't know, the park contests some of us participated in, his Disney America project means a lot to him)
There seems to be a bit of confusion between some of you with which parks belong to who (Who created them), so let me get this straight... Markmansion did not create Disney's America, Costafreak did. Markmansion, however, did create the seasons themed park, and then I created the musical themed park. I guess we all pitched (Others too) in and helped eachother out on these, so that created confusion, lol.
Just a little confirmation:
This clip is from WKMG-TV local6 news in Florida.

Twice I've said things online, and poof, within weeks it changed in the parks. Now, it could be coincidence....or maybe not.
1) Coming off Star Tours, the exit ramp was a dump. Duct tamp holding the carpet down, base boards missing. It had been bad for over a year, getting worse and worse. I mention it online, 2 weeks later, I go back, they've recarpeted and redone the baseboards.
2) I mention what an awesome deal the 6-piece chicken strips are at Golden Horseshoe. 4-piece was like $7, and 6 piece for $8. Well, we'd get 2 6-piece and split it 4 ways. That is, 3 pieces each with fries, for like $16. We'd been doing this for years. WAY better deal than 3 4-piece meals for $21.
I mention online what an awesome deal this is, poof, 2 weeks later, the 6-piece is gone from the menu.

But if Disney got an idea from us and planned to use it in the theme park, we needed to be acknolledged for it. But if they don't know who we are, then they need to become a member and ask them who we are.

I HIGHLY doubt they let the Inagineers come on here. Way too much risk of being sued.
What Disney admitted is that the PR/Marketing/Customer Relations type people visit fan sites to track guest impression of what fans think about the parks, promotions, changes, ideas they've "leaked", etc.
I highly doubt they use the web to get ideas for new attractions. They use the web just to judge reaction.

It can all be coincidence... I mean, Disney do things all the time.
Costafreak, unfortunately, you weren't the first ever to come up with the Disney America idea; Disney did years ago. Then yet, if the showing of it on Travel channel last Sunday was there in the first place because of you, bravo for you. I'm not telling you otherwise, I'm proud for you, Costafreak. It's just a bit of a gamble jumping ahead and taking credit for what you saw on TV when you are obviously not 100% sure you are the one responsible for Disney showing it.
I think it is really cool now that we can come up with great ideas. Share them. And know that we have atleast the slightest chance that Disney is right behind us listening to what ideas we have and other things we say.

Did CostaFreak come up with it before or after 16 years ago? It was at least that long ago that they had the idea, since 14 years ago Disney had bought land in Virgina and had the plans all ready to go before getting shut down by local opposition and the lackluster opening of Eurodisney?

Yea, but one hell of a coincidence. I know it was invented 16 years ago, but isn't it a little odd that they are putting it in WDW. I swore I saw an Imagineer on this 3D modeling program making a model of Paradise Pier in the exact form I remember making it in (the California Screamin' type coaster jutting out in the background on what looked like water kinda gave it away).
Well, at least we know they're around. Maybe it was a coincidence, maybe not, who knows? Only time will tell.

Oh man, I completely agree. And not only that, but I miss Vault Disney late at night. That was a bombin' (and short) part of growing up. If we could have a channel just for all the old shows, I'd Tivo every show, every episode.. and then thank God for this forum every night until the day I die.

I was refering to the fan made parks on this board not the one Disney came up with years ago. Yes my park and CoastaFreaks' were based on the origional concept of an american themed park.
BTW, what exactly was on the Travel Channel?
Oh, and if you watch the news clip, wdwmagic and laughingplace got on it, so they very well could be watching this site.

A coaster by a body of water? Wow, what a great concept ...[removed]....
That is your evidence that they got the idea from you?
In the original plans for Disney's America, Scremin' was going to be called Industrial Revolution, and would have....gasp....been by a body of water just like in DCA.
Original plans for the Boardwalk and Beach Club resorts had plans for a Screamin' style fake woody... by a body of water.
Last weekend I went to Belmont Park (Mission Beach) and rode the coaster... which is beside the Ocean.
And, those darn people that built the original Cyclone on Coney Island 80 years ago... they must have gotten the idea to build it next to a body of water from you.

It was this thing on WDW and the entire resort. At the end it showed a clip of what's to come in the future of WDW, and they showed a 10 second clip of Imagineers working on a Disney's America park for a 5th gate. Either that or I was on something, one or another.

On MiceAge Al Lutz complained of Mark Twain riverboat problems (rotting wood, peeling pain etc.) and look, now it's down for refurb.

I think Lutz was more demonstrating why the Mark Twain needs to go in for refurb. People often wonder why certain attractions are closed for rehab. Mark Twain was scheduled to go down for a long time before Lutz' article came out.
I can do it too. *gazes into crystal ball* Looks like Alice in Wonderland is in need of a refurb...all of TDA hear me...shut down Alice in Wonderland for a refurb!

Fantasia is an absolute work of art and it is time for a new generation of Disney kids to explore its wonder and beauty.
There should be an attraction that features the art and music of this timeless classic as well as the 2000 version. Walt intended Fantasia to be an ongoing work, and so why not keep his plans:mickey: alive?
Major Disney Freak

^I don't mean to go off topic, but Fantasia never caught on as an ongoing work. It was a flop when it first came out. Now, it's a work of genius! :) They should revive Walt's plans for Fantasia.

Wow, its like you read my mind. I absolutely loved staying up after 12m on the weekends to watch The Wonderful World of Disney, Zorro and Ink and Paint Club. Even if it was late at night like how it was before. No child under 12 stays up past 12 watching tv.

I say expand Toontown! Maybe get rid of the dead end and replace it with a second entrance, maybe near Big Thunder Trail or something.
