Hi, I'm a 17 yr old living in miami, florida and i love disney world. although i have only been there 3 times i have been to disneyland maybe 20. I am dying to buy a florida annual pass because having a summer where i could drive up anyday i feel like it and go would be unbelievable. However, there are a few problems:
my mom is strict and isn't "convinced about the whole idea"
I am pretty sure its not the money that she is worried about but the drive (which is only 3-3.5 hours each way) and that I would be too tired and blah blah blah.
it would mean so much to me for her to allow me to do this so what do i need to do to convince her that everything would be fine, not just while at disneyworld but while driving there, etc. i really need your guys best ideas

Hmmm...I would first make her dinner one night lol. Nah just kidding. Really though I would say you should tell her the first couple of times you will take a friend with you so that you won't fall asleep driving and then tell her that you promise not to go if you are feeling tired that day or just that you will take a nap first. Then say that you are a very responsible driver and you wouldn't leave unless you felt that you would get there safely. I think that's all I can think of right now. Good luck!

those are some good ideas. i mean i know for a fact that i will never be able to go on my own, which i wouldn't really want to do anyway. its mostly this driving / experience/ im far away and if anything happens im screwed deal.

Why don't you offer to take your mom a few times? That way you can prove to her that you can get to and from WDW safely.

Your mom doesn't like Disney World!? Shocking! Well, why don't you show her the official website, which has a lot of great pictures! If that doesn't work, I have no other suggestions but to get on your knees and beg. :)

because she doesn't like to go :(
She's been there I take it? Only reason I ask is because the only people I know who don't like WDW are people who have never been there!

Having made this drive a few times myself, I would say the drive isn't cause for much concern. Whether you go either up Florida's Turnpike or I-95, there are very clearly marked service stations, food places, hotels if you need them, and the Turnpike has those travel centers you can stop at without ever exiting. Any kind of late-night fatigue should be able to be handled pretty well.
There is the time issue for you since it will take 3-4 hours each way, but that can be handled as well. Say you leave WDW around 10pm, you'll be home by 1am-2am, which I find quite manageable. When I go to DLR, I leave there at midnight or later, get home around 1:30am-2am and I'm fine the next day. With school out, the arrival time back home shouldn't be an issue, and with all those aforementioned places on the roads to support travelers, you have plenty of commercial support should you need caffiene, sugar, etc.
Just make sure to have some good CDs to listen to to make the trip go by faster!

You could also make sure you have a cell phone on you at all times so that if your Mom gets an anxiety attack, she can call you and you can reassure her you are fine =) This helped me a lot a while back with my older kids (who were between 15 and 19 at the time.) Once I realized that I could call them--or vice versa-- at any time, I quit worrying so much when they were out with friends, etc. Good luck!

Have you thought about working at the park? I'm sure if you told your parents you wanted to work there, they would be excited about it.
