I am looking forward to seeing this movie. I sure hope it does well. Yay for Traditional Annimation!!!! I see no reason not to have it all! Art should keep exploring the boundries but not give up on the classic styles that have inspired so many.

Hmmmm.... It might be good, but I am afraid that once it goes into the live action scenarios that it is gonna be just like any other fairytale esque movie that stars Hugh Grant and whomever the new girl of the year is. I don't need to see another movie like those but with a Disney cartoon twist. Hmmmm... I will want to see a few different trailers before I make a descision on it.

Julie Andrews to narrate Enchanted
Andrews To Narrate Enchanted (http://www.scifi.com/scifiwire/index.php?category=0&id=41418)
SCI FI wire
Film legend Julie Andrews told SCI FI Wire that she will provide the narration for the upcoming romantic fantasy film Enchanted, an animated/live-action movie starring Amy Adams and Patrick Dempsey (Grey's Anatomy's Dr. McDreamy).
"I am going to be doing a narration for Disney on a movie called Enchanted, and that happens in June for me," Andrews said in interviews while promoting Shrek the Third, in which she has a voice role. "I love the team."
Enchanted tells the story of young girl (Adams) who is banished by an evil queen (Susan Sarandon) from her animated fairy-tale world to real-world Manhattan. James Marsden (X-Men) and Timothy Spall also star in the movie, which is directed by Kevin Lima (102 Dalmations) from a script by Bill Kelly (Premonition).
Andrews isn't sure if the narration is an afterthought for Enchanted, which has completed production. "I don't know," she said. "I'm glad to do it either way. ... It is very modern, as well as [a] fairy tale."
Andrews will next be heard as the voice of Queen Lillian in Shrek the Third, the third installment in the hit animated franchise, which opens May 18.

:castle: What if?
From the brief film-clips I've seen, the animated sequence at the begining is definitely inspired by Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.
This story is sorf of a what if? What if the Wicked Queen had the power to zap Snow White into another dimension, and she wound up in The Big Apple?

I love Julie's voice. It's so grandmotherly. Very few voices make me feel good, hers does.
There's a nice little interview with her in the Orlando Sentinel:

Amy Adams enchanted by Enchanted
http://www.visionsfantastic.com/forum/gallery/files/15227-GiselleNY.jpg
A star, enchanted by Enchanted (http://disney.go.com/inside/mainattraction/070814/index.html)
Disney Insider
It's about magic. It's about music. It's about what happens when dreams meet the real world. But, for Enchanted star Amy Adams, it was especially about The Dress. During shooting, Amy was thrown into a whirl of dancing and singing (sometimes in less than ideal weather conditions) and faced the challenge of playing a fairy tale truly coming to life -- but the greatest challenge was Princess Giselle's lovely, exquisite, royal, and ENORMOUS princess gown.
"Some of the time I'm in modern dress, but for the first part of the movie, my costume is very thought out and very meticulous and very ... large!" Amy laughs. "'Hoop skirt' doesn't even begin to describe it. It had at least five layers of hoops and ruffles. It took a couple of days to figure out how to move in it!"
She adds, "The wardrobe people who dressed me had to carry that thing around, and it had its own system of being transported. I couldn't get dressed in dressing rooms or trailers, because there was no way to get out the door. We had to set up tents everywhere we went to get this thing on and off!"
Whether the challenge is inventing a whole new way to bring a Disney Princess to life ... or just managing a giant skirt, the making of "Enchanted" has been full of them. And Amy, director Kevin Lima, the rest of the cast, and Disney's gifted animators have been having the time of their lives.

I sure want to see this film go well. And I also hope this director (Kevin Lima) has recovered from his horrendous 102 Dalmations, and from the trailer it looks like he did. I don't want to offend any fans out there, but IMO the first one was bad enough. What would we do if this was a new Disney trend - turning animated classics into live-action rehashes?
Well anyway, having Julie Andrews narrate the story is a nice touch, I always enjoy her movies. If they weren't able to get her to do it, Angela Lansbury would be a nice sub - she reminds me of my grandma (who, by the way, is a big fan of hers).
Maybe this princess could have more shelf life than Mia Themoppolis (sp?) from the Princess Diaries, which I thought was quite good.
-To the Baron and the Baroness, may you always be... barren. :)

An early look at Disney's 'Enchanted' (with video)

An early look at Disney's Enchanted (with video) (http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/extendedplay/2007/11/x.html)
The Envelope — Los Angeles Times
Those longing for Walt Disney to return to the classic animated style of yore are in luck — in a way. The studio’s Enchanted, due in theaters Nov. 21, is a throwback to Disney animated features Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Cinderella and Sleeping Beauty. Enchanted’s opening 10 minutes, in fact, play-out like a long-lost 1940s animated film, complete with old-school, 2-D-style animation. And then its main character, the Snow White-like Giselle, played by Amy Adams, is transported to modern-day Manhattan, where cute and cuddly forest critters are replaced by dancing, computer-animated roaches.
The fairy tale, directed by Kevin Lima (Tarzan, 102 Dalmatians) is part homage to traditional Disney musicals, with references to everything from Sleeping Beauty to The Little Mermaid to Beauty and the Beast, in addition to a re-imagining of the classic, princess-finds-her-prince yarn.

'Enchanted' filled with Disney inside references
Enchanted Disney Spoofs (http://www.mtv.com/movies/news/articles/1574092/story.jhtml)
Susan Sarandon, James Marsden, Amy Adams pick their favorite hidden references.
Mtv Movie News
"Instead of a spoof, we should call it a "playful homage," director Kevin Lima insisted — a delicate tonal-tightrope walk between making fun and honoring. Indeed, the story of Enchanted itself is anything but ironic, a perfectly straightforward fairy tale that just happens to take place in the real world and not some animated kingdom.
So just how many references are there?
"The movie is so filled with them. I could hand you a four-page document of references to Disney movies. It goes pretty deep," Lima enthused. "On the surface there are things like the poison apple, the old hag, the dragon — everyone gets that sort of stuff. On a much deeper level, there's a real geek game you can play with this movie in finding the references."
We asked the cast and crew for some of their favorites...

'Enchanted' Premiere
Fantasy mixes with reality at premiere of Disney film 'Enchanted' (http://www.iht.com/articles/ap/2007/11/18/arts/NA-A-E-MOV-US-Enchanted-Premiere.php)
International Herald Tribune
It was a fairy-tale beginning for "Enchanted," as Disney princesses joined Hollywood stars on the red carpet for the new romantic-comedy's world premiere. Trumpets heralded Patrick Dempsey, Helen Mirren, Teri Hatcher and other celebrities along with costumed characters such as Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, and Mickey and Minnie Mouse outside the El Capitan Theatre Saturday night. Amy Adams and Patrick Dempsey, working their way down the red carpet, voiced opinions on everything from the Hollywood writers strike to Dempsey's recent No. 2 ranking (behind Matt Damon) on People magazine's list of sexiest men.

Being a princess can be less than enchanting (http://www.suntimes.com/entertainment/pearlman/656569,SHO-Sunday-cindy18.article)
Forget the bunnies and nightingales ? Amy Adams had to contend with the New York 'underworld'
Chicago Sun Times
Amy Adams, who plays a fairy-tale princess in the real world in Enchanted, says that her Prince Charming might have been the Orkin man. "My princess comes from this fantasy world up through a man-hole in Times Square. What people need to know is we filmed this in a real manhole and I was down there in a big, fluffy white dress," she says. "I was informed the manhole was safe from rats and roaches. At least that's what I was told. I didn't even think about the potential." Adams mentions that she didn't think about the other critters that were down there who didn't have agents and managers ... and rabies shots. "I don't think it would have been advantageous to my scene if I was jumping around going, 'What is that crawling on my ankle!'" she says.

The Incarnations Of Susan Sarandon (http://www.courant.com/entertainment/movies/hc-sholede1118.artnov18,0,6501010.story?col l=hc_home_util)
She Can Play Sexy, Smart Or, In 'Enchanted', An Evil Queen
Hartford Courant
The new movie "Enchanted" boasts TV's most recognizable hunk in Patrick Dempsey of "Grey's Anatomy" and is aimed at the young. So whose menacing face dominates the promotional posters and backs of buses? "I just lucked out with the best graphic," says Oscar winner, rabble-rouser and wickedly frank Susan Sarandon, who inhabits the Disney archetype of the evil queen in this modern twist, opening Wednesday. The ad features her in full sorceress regalia, holding a shiny red apple. If you're taken with a certain mix of cougar brains, beauty and liberal conviction, you can admire the view. If you lean more toward Rush Limbaugh, you can throw tomatoes at it. 61-year-old actress Sarandon, front and center in a movie campaign, reinforces an iconography that has been building throughout her career.

Disney's 'Enchanted' Holiday Formula
Disney's Enchanted Holiday Formula (http://www.businessweek.com/bwdaily/dnflash/content/nov2007/db20071121_060215.htm)
This year, Disney has improved on the holiday hit formula by turning out its patented family-friendly fare at a budget that promises big returns
Business Week
It has been a staple of the holidays for years. As the leaves turn brown and the holidays beckon, Walt Disney greets kids and their parents with a family movie that does tons of business and, if the stars are aligned (as they often are), the hit plays straight through New Year's Day. Heck, Disney virtually invented the notion of a two-month holiday box office back in 1987, holding off releasing its Ted Danson/Tom Selleck flick Three Men and a Baby in the summer to ship it to theaters for Turkey Day. The rest, as they say, is history, marked by such November megawinners as The Incredibles, Disney's top-performing film in 2004, and $100 million films such as The Santa Clause 2 and Monsters, Inc. The common denominator for those films: They were either high-end animation movies or films with big-deal movie stars like Tim Allen in The Santa Clause.
But Disney seems to be switching gears this year with the Nov. 21 release of Enchanted, a film that seems to have neither mind-blowing animation nor star power going for it. The movie has no star capable of carrying a film. As for animation, well, there is some of that ? about 20 minutes' worth at the beginning that is less entertaining than cute, in a reverent Disney sort of way. Those few minutes are nothing a Disney animator would ever put on his or her r?sum? ? in fact, it was created by a crew of former Disneyites.
Still, I'm going to go out on what I believe is a pretty sturdy limb and predict that Disney has found a new genre for itself: the modestly budgeted family film that plays in the big leagues, where Pixar & Co. usually tread. From the buzz I'm hearing, Disney has another hit on its hands and likely one that will beef up earnings.
