Actually no, the first game was rated T, but the sequels are the ones that Disney may have trouble with.
I say go for it!
You've gotta be kidding me. Prince of Persia is a horrible game >_<

They're making too many video game based movies nowadays....
Like Doom... Along with rumors of games like Halo and Metroid getting movies... I don't know, they better do good with this.

with the prince of persia as a game there is violence, but thats mostly the game play. making a movie based on a semi rpg game is simple...just follow the storyline. Isn't Jerry Bruckheimer the guy who did potc?
Isn't Jerry Bruckheimer the guy who did PotC? He sure is.
He's already looking for his next series of blockbuster movies.

I don't know about this... I mean, with this movie being based on an M rated video game franchise, and it being by Disney... A family friendly company, children will most likely see it. Wouldn't you think, even if this movie wont be bad like the games, what if its popularity will spark kids interests and desires into playing these games? That, I'd be a bit worried about.
Just like every popular movie nowadays, kids love Spiderman, Harry Potter, Pirates, etc.. Kids love collecting their action figures, and movie based video games so people could pretty live as their favorite movie giant. But they're always kept within the age limits so kids can still enjoy them... Now with Prince of Persia, a possible hit between kids and adults, my predictions are that more kids will find out about these games and only want to play them.. I just don't know if this risk should really be taken by the Disney company..

Come on! I say do it! The only reason the games are M rated is because of the blood factor in gameplay. I have it, and I have no idea why it was rated M unless it was blood factor and the fact that the prince says one measly curse in the beginning.
Just imagine one thing: 20 years from now, video games will have to have the sex, cursing, violence, and gore factor beyond your belief before they will get an M rating, so everybody shouldn't be complaining about this now.

well, pirates was a disney movie with much violence and some blood and it was rated PG-13 so they might give this oone a PG-13 rating.

Wait, I'm confused. The very first Prince of Persia game was on the Apple II, and released in 1989. This was before there were ratings on video games. So is the movie supposed to be off of the original game, or the more recent ones?

IESB The Movie Reporter
Jerry Bruckheimer has been busy as of late with his Pirates franchise and his countless hit TV shows but still he has been working hard to get other film franchises off the ground. The IESB can exclusively report that his upcoming film, Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, has found a director and a release date! So I am sure you are wondering by now who Jerry has tapped to direct the adaptation of the best selling video game, right?
Bruckheimer has teamed up with him in the past to bring you Bad Boys I and II, The Rock, Pearl Harbor and Armageddon. Yes, that?s right, Michael Bay is directing Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time for a Summer ?09 release.
The IESB was able to confirm with Disney Studios that they are hopeful that Michael Bay will indeed direct the picture right after he is done with this Summer?s blockbuster, Transformers.
