View Full Version : What's the truth about cheapest tickets?

Here's one for you Disney World regulars...
What is the REAL DEAL on tickets? There are a ton of sites that offer "cheap" tickets, but where do you really get the best deals?
Another question is: If I go for 5 days, is that enough? And should I get all-access passes, or should I only get park passes and pay for waterpark passes separately if I am only planning on hitting the waterpark for 1 day of my trip?
Thanks, and I look forward to your replies.

Well, if you ask me...since they have gone to the MYW tickets, you can't really get the deals that you use to. One thing you might want to do is start getting a newsletter from http://www.mousesavers.com/ it will arrive in your inbox on the 15th of every month. If you would like I can PM or EM you the one from Dec 15th. In the letter, there is a link to a ticket seller they have made a deal with and you will be able to save a few dollars on a either a one day/one park ticket or a park hopper. The newsletter is how I got my ticket for my up coming trip...got a 6 day park hopper expiry (no water park or PI) for $245. But I would not wait and get my ticket at the gate...all the places I have ever seen on line are always just little bit cheaper than gate prices. Also make sure the place you buy them from has free shipping. WDW.com doesn't even offer free shipping.
Now depending on what you are wanting do; and what the crowds are like you could do a pretty good scratch on the surface of what the resort has to offer. But if you go at a peak season 5 days might not be enough...even with the fast pass. And also if you are wanting to do a water park. As for a ticket for the water park...I think you should buy it separate from your base ticket. But just do the math for your self, if you think you have come across a deal on a ticket with the extra water park and PI option.
For me I don't go to the park if I don't have a park hopper so I am able to move around the parks. Say like you want to go to Animal Kingdom one day...well that park always closes before the other parks (5pm or 6pm depending on the time of the year). So if you have a hopper you could hop over to EPCOT and see Illuminations or to Disney MGM to Fantasmic or MK to see Wishes (depending on the times the parks close and the time of the year).

You see, this is why I come to VF.
What a great reply, and wonderful details!
Sure, I would love a PM with the information to the newsletter. I am always open to suggestion.
I haven't been to WDW for about 15 years... what is new there since I had my last trip?

Your welcome on the info! Always like to help out my fellow Disney fans.
I sent you a PM with a small portion of the info from the last newsletter. It all won't fit in the PM box. I added a link to the actual newsletter sign up sheet...so fill that out and you should get the new newsletter coming out out Jan 15, 07.
Wow, let me think....what has opened in the last 15 years. Humm...that would but your last trip around "91 or "92, there abouts??
Well in "92 Splash Mountain opened in Frontierland at MK, and Voyage to of the Little Mermaid opened at Disney's MGM.
In "94 Innoventions replaced Communicore at EPCOT's Future World, and "Honey, I Shrunk the Audience" replaced "Captain EO" over at the Imagination Pavilion also in EPCOT's Future Wold (And something needs to replace HISA some time soon...I hope!) And then at Disney's MGM we got The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror.
In "95 Blizzard Beach opened up.
In "96 Mickey's Birthday land at the MK was changed to Mickey's Toontown Fair. Over at EPCOT in Future World Universe of Energy was changed to Ellen's Energy Adventure. And a new miniature golf course opened up by the Swan and Dolphin called Fantasia gardens. (the other miniature golf course is Winter/Summerland by Blizzard Beach.)
In "97 Downtown Disney's West Side opened as well a Disney's Wide World of Sports Complex.
In "98 Disney's Animal Kingdom opened. As well at Buzz Lightyear's Space ranger Spin at MK's Tomorrowland. Then over in Adventureland The Enchanted Tiki Room - Under New Management replaced the regular Tiki Room (for me this is a sad day. don't really care for the new show. but some do.) Fantasmic! opened up at Disney's MGM. And Disney Quest opened up at Downtown Disney West Side.
In "99 Sounds Dangerous starring Drew Carey and Rock 'n' Roller coaster opened up at Disney's MGM. And Kali River Rapids and Maharajah Jungle Trek open up at Disney's Animal Kingdom. Test Track opens at EPCOT's Futurewold. The Many Adventures of WInnie the Pooh replaces Mr. Toad's Wild Ride in Fantasyland at MK (another sad day for me). And Cirque du Soleil "La Nouba" opens at Downtown Disney's West Side.
In 2001 The Magic Carpets of Aladdin open in Adventureland. (Just another version of Dumbo, but with carpets and buttons that let the car tilt up or down.)
In 2003 EPCOT opened the very expensive and over hyped Mission: Space. While in Fantasyland at the MK they opened Mickey's PhilharMagic, a must see! And the fire works show Wishes.
In 2005 EPCOT got Soarin' at the revamped Land Pavilion in Futureworld. Disney's MGM got Lights, Motors, Action! the car stunt show. In Tomorrowland at MK, Alien Encounter was replaced by Stitch's Great Escape! (Not to rave reviews) And EPCOT's The Living Seas Pavilion got Turtle Talk with Crush to help along its total Nemo revamp.
In 2006 Expedition Everest opened at the Animal Kingdom. And Jack Sparrow and Barbossa joined the cast at The Pirates of the Caribbean. And EPCOT's the living seas got a new omnimover ride, with a Nemo theme called The Seas with Nemo & Friends. And also at the Animal Kingdom there is a new stage show with Nemo and his friends. But the show doesn't official open until Jan "07, it replaces "Tarzan Rocks."
Now something else you should think about to get ready for your trip. Check out http://disneyworld.disney.go.com/wdw/index it the WDW official web site, to get your up to date park schedules, and ride closings. You should also check out the ticket prices on the site, they will help you when you are looking for ticket discounts. And you should also pick up a copy of the 2007 Birnbaum's Walt Disney Wold guide book. I buy one every year...even when I don't go to the parks. It talks about everything...the rides, shows, restaurants and hotels and the little things extra to do around the resort. There are even helpful hits if you are only hitting one of the parks for one day. I don't know when you are going, but if there is some place you are wanting to eat at in the parks or the resort hotels that has sit down service you should start thinking about making your Advance Dinner Reservations (ADRs) some places book up really fast depending on were you are looking at. They start taking ADRs up to 30 days in advance for some places and up to 180 days in advanced for the dinner shows and Cinderella's Royal Table. If you have any more questions...please ask away! (Also you might want to try and get your park tickets ASAP, I have been hearing muttering a new price hike in the new year.)
