In my students' last book order they were selling a book called "The Kingdom Keepers" here's a quick synopsis of the story:

Grade 5-8?Using cutting-edge technology, five Florida teens have been transformed into Holographic Hosts at Disney World. Their images appear throughout the Magic Kingdom, giving visitors information about the various attractions. It all seems to be going well, until the participants begin having disturbing dreams that start affecting their everyday lives. They sneak in after the park has closed, and Wayne, a retired Imagineer, directs them in their fight against the Dark Side, embodied by Maleficent from Sleeping Beauty. Audio-animatronic pirates from The Pirates of the Caribbean travel through the Magic Kingdom in the little cars from the Buzz Lightyear ride. The dolls from It's a Small World clamber into the boats and start biting the occupants. Cinderella's Castle is filled with an eye-popping array of staircases, ? la Escher. There's a certain coolness factor for the notion that people could be both human and hologram at the same time, and the illicit thrill of seeing all the things you don't normally get to see (both real and imaginary) makes this a must-read for serious Disney fans.

So I ordered a copy for myself and my classroom library. Haven't read it yet, but plan to soon. Anyone ever read this book?

My sister and I read this book nearly a year ago. I'd give this book a 7/10, seeing as how the books reads a bit young and the characters can sometimes be rather predictable. Otherwise, I'd really recommend this book, if just for its Disney value. Its actually part of a planned serires of 5 books. The concept of the thing is pretty interesting, but I was kinda put off by some of the more loomingly improbable scenarios.

Interesting. I'll probably start it next week once I finish the other book I'm reading.

Because The Kingdom Keepers is a Disney product, we'll be moving over to All Things Disney!

Now as we begin our journey I'd like to ask everybody to remain seated keeping your hands, arms, fingers, toes, heads, nose, foreheads, knees, feet, shins, elbows and chins, in other words words everything, inside the boat for me at all time please.

I bought this book for 5 bucks at a Wal-Mart.

It's okay.

It sort of made me want to write a thriller about Disneyland and make it three hundred times better than Kingdom Keepers.

Well, when you get it picked up for a movie, I'd like to play "Wayne"! Okay?

So far it's pretty good. The kids in the book are child actors who've been hired to be "Holographic Hosts" at the Magic Kingdom and somehow when they go to sleep they are transported to the Magic Kindom as their holograms.
This Wayne (who I'd love to act out in a play or movie) needs them to all work together and stop the "overtakers" after the park closes. Sounds like the overtakers are the audio animatronics that rule the park when it's closed.
I've read about 75 pages so far....just started it! So far so good for a kids book.

Ridley just submited it again to Walt Disney Pictures. It was turned down last time, because it would take place in the park. Alot of it during the day time, but mostly at night.

Ridley had been previously been told, if they decided to make the movie, they'd be under a strict 7.8 Million Dollar Budget. Not alot, if your going to use all the technology in the book.

Picked it up from the library today and started reading it... for all his big research backstage, I loved the section on "Fantasmics" (sic) on page 59. There's so many things wrong with that part that I don't even know where to begin. :p

I think it's a pretty good adventure book for kids. I'm on Chapter 27 now.

Oh, I'm definitely into it - I just find those inaccuracies really amusing in light of all the author's supposed research. :p It's even more amusing considering that he's a well-published, well-respected mystery writer. :p

Finished it last night... the ending was rather weak, IMHO - I think it's something that would look amazing from a visual standpoint (say, if this were a movie), but it came across pretty bland in the book form. That being said, it was a very entertaining book.

I agree, the ending was pretty weak, but overall it was a pretty good book. Took me longer than usual to read due to correcting tests and starting report cards.
My next book should be coming soon and that's the new "Walt Disney Biography" that came out a couple days ago. I ordered it from WalMart online so it should be here soon!

i liked it, although i agree it should have taken place in disneyland. There were some innaccuracies, which were mostly amusing (cause its then that i realize what a nerd i am, for knowing all this stuff.hehee) yeah, and the small world thing was a bit creepy...I'll have to try real hard to block the mental image from my mind next time i go on that! luv ridley, though. he rocks
