It's Walt Disneyworld's 35th anniversary. The place has gotten BIG over the years. Kind of cool I just got to audition where we danced to the finale from their 25th anniversary parade on their 35th anniversary.

Happy Birthday WDW!

It is a shame that this anniversary is getting overlooked. No it's not a nice "round" number like 10 or even 25, but it is pretty momentous.

That's what I thought. I was at the 25th and it was great. Castle all decorated (Check out my avatar). Kind of sad no 35th party.

They're most likely going to do a huge 40th anniversary so don't want to spoil a certain appeal of it by doing an over the top 35th especially coming right out of a year that was advertised even over there as "the happiest celebration on earth." They need to let the anniversary feel fade away a little so that when they start advertising a giant anniversary people don't think "what? we were just there for it"

I was at the park on the day of the 20th celebration. It was quite impressive. It was when Eisner was just hitting his stride. It was a great celebration.

I was also there during the 30th and it was barely noticable. But, the main reason it was slighted was because that was also Walts 100th - which was being celebrated.

I think Almandot has it right. WDW will get something good for the 40th, a small blimp for the 45th, and another huge 50th celebration 15 years from now.

Sweet! 2021 - The Happiest Celebration on Earth comes to Disneyland! Maybe our castle can turn gold & have a giant mirror this time?

It's sad that this Magical Milestone is being overlooked for a non-important promotion. Disneyland Paris is giving more attention to their 15th than the Year of a Million Dreams as seen in the logo for the anniversary. The focus is on the celebration but retains the "Where Dreams Come True" slogan. There at least could have been a 35th Anniversary logo on the final float in the parade, it is almost as old as the park.

I did.... not actually on the first day but while it was going on!! The Castle was turned into a giant 25th birthday cake. There was a special parade...other special decorations etc. Here is a better pic. sorry if it's big

--------------------------------------Double post added here.
Not to get off of the subject but... here is a shot of the castle taken in may of this year. The picture above was taken in September 1997.
Look how much they have changed. The large trees in front of the castle have been taken away. I never noticed this until now. I kind of like it better with the trees

This is a perfect example of bad decorating. The only thing worse was DLRPs 3rd anniversary Castle.
