People are chosen at random by random cast members.
We'll be moving from Off Topic to All Things Disney! Please keep your hands, arms, legs and feet inside the thread at all times.

Here's a link to the official rules (http://www.disneyparks.com/rules). A specific place and time will be selected in advance, and if you just so happen to be the person who arives at the pre-selected place, at the pre-selected time, you win the prize. It sounds like they very carefully set this up so that it could be anyone, rather than just the people who look good in publicity photos.

So you say they select spots ahead of time, so say if I were to sit on a bench in AdventureLand all day at DLR without moving everyday for the whole year, chances are they'll eventually select that spot giving me a high chance of winning? (Lol, not that anyone would actually do that though :p)
EDIT: I just saw the commercial on Youtube, it's really nice!
If I understand what I read in those rules, then yes, that's right. It would be an awful waste of an AP though, spending all day everyday on one particular park bench. It would really be sad if that particular bench were never selected.
Or, even worse, you get up to go to the bathroom at 2:52pm on March 21st and the time selected is 2:53pm March 21st. Somebody else is there, and you return just in time to see them accept a big prize!

Now the "year of a million dreams" did that start today? I was wondering because as my friends and I were walking to TOT a TOT CM handed us fast passes for the ride. Does this normally happen? He had a small stack of fast passes and handed them to us like a guy handing out fliers in Downtown. Just wondering.
Off topic but...... This was my first ride on TOT I don't like drops so I stayed away but now that I've been on it I love it. The free fastpasses was great fo a first ride, I was on so fast that I didn't have time to reason my way off the ride.
According to what I read here:
first day of Disney Deams giveaway (http://www.visionsfantastic.com/forum/showthread.php?p=146491#post146491),
fastpass giveaways are part of the Year of a Million Dreams promotion.

They said that they only gave about 25 away so we were really lucky. Also, we got them the first day of the promotion. Its soo cool

Hey guys, btw... you'll never know where the theme music for Year of a Million Dreams came from (Peter Pan, the original...)
http://www.amazon.com/Peter-Pan-James-Newton-Howard/dp/B00011D190/sr=8-6/qid=1160010839/ref=pd_bbs_6/002-1674726-3920049?ie=UTF8&s=music
To listen to a sample, just click "Flying". It's kind of weird how Disney "borrows" music from soundtracks not from Disney.
