I was just searching around for things for kids at WDW and happen to catch an article about PAL Mickey which is an interactive doll or something that kind of acts as a tour guide for the kids. Does DLR employ Pal Mickey as well?

PAL Mickey is not used at DLR at this time.

There have been rumors of a DLR PAL Mickey being thought up, but it always gets pushed far far down on the priority list.

I think its very niffty but I don't need one scince I know practicly everything aboot WDW. The one reason I would buy it is for when it gives show times.

I dont think they were meant for you anyway HHIII, Im guessing yer a tad too old fir PAL Mickey anyway. They are more geared towards smaller kids, its like your children have their own personal tour guide..

Yeah they are way too expensive as well just for a doll.

I think it's a cute idea! I'm not sure I'd spend that kind of money on one, but it sounds pretty helpful. Now, if it were a PAL Stitch...

When we went to WDW my brother was dying for one so we got one for $60 bucks, i remeber. It was really cute and I think it isn't really worth all the money but if your a Disney fan you gotta have it. When we bought it we asked if it could be used at disneyland, the CM said yeah. We tried Mickey there and he didn't say a word! So she was wrong...

Anyway when we were there i saw plenty of people with Pal mickeys including adults, so yeah its meant for younger children but, heck you are a kid at heart right!?

^ yeah it is! Crazy huh? Well nothing is cheap at Disney, thats all I can say.

There's un-cheap and then there's ridiculous. $60 for a PAL Mickey makes me say 'wow', but then again the prices for all the stuffed animals are way up there.

true nothing is cheap at Disney (2.50 for a 20oz soda at the resort in the vending machine????) but still...

^ That's not so bad considering Dodger Stadium was selling 20oz sodas from vendors for $4.25.

Of course, GPS technology isn't exactly cheap. Plus there's the time involved with programming the chips in the dolls. For the technology and the franchise, $60 sounds about right.

Considering it gives trivia, info on rides, plays games, tells you when a ride is not that crowded, and when shows or parades are going to start... safe to say the price is fair.

Hubby and I got Pal Mickey on our trip, and ADORED him! It was so fun! All the great trivia and info, parade times, and the cheesy jokes that gave us a great chuckle. Well worth it, and we plan to buy the newest version on our trip next year.

As for the CM who said he could be used at Disneyland, that was NOT a lie. Pal Mickey does tons of games and jokes no matter where he is--you can use him in your living room. The only thing he won't do is location specific news and commentary. That requires the IR transmitters that are only at WDW.

I recommend him to everyone. We loved him, and had lots of great conversations with others asking about him, meeting the nicest folks as a result. :)

^ yes but i meant to say he is doesn't actaully give direction in Disneyland, you have to squezze his hand or something like that for him to talk while not in the WDW parks. Which is exactly what you said but yeah. Its a cute toy though.

We got the Pal Mickey a while ago, and have used him on three trips to WDW so far. Our kids love to carry him around the parks listening to all his comments. He seems to have the most to say in Epcot and also Animal Kingdom, from my experiences with him. Now they are even making new clothes to dress Pal Mickey up in. He can be in a rain poncho, as a pin trader, as a member of the Mickey Mouse Club, or in Animal kingdom Safari gear. I asked a cast member if Pal Mickey will work in DLR and was told they are working on it, and it's "coming soon".

I got one when they first came out. My son talked me into it. I had been look'n at it, but didn't want to pay that much for it. My son was a Walt Disney Rep. at his college, so he was able to get it a few dollars cheaper. It was fun at first, but then was a pain to carry. Every time it spoke I had to make it repeat it, because I could not hear it at arms length.

Considering it's quite loud at the parks, whenever Pal Mickey talks, do you have to always hold him up to your ears just to hear what he's saying? lol

Yes! You have to hold him close to your ear to hear him almost every where. He first vibrates, then talks. But I had to make him repeat what he was saying, often. Just could not hear him in the crowds. We would hold him next to the audio input on our camcorder and point it at whatever he was talk'n about. Came out great, like haveing Mickey himself giving us a tour.
