My faveorite Disney park of them all. Great attractions. a great place to learn about the world around you. going to World Showcase is like actually stepping into the cultures of the country on which it is based. the American Adventure exterior looks like Independance Hall in Philadelphia. Reflections of Earth is like the history of the world told in fireworks lasers and a giant rotating globe with screens on it. Very Spiritual experience. Feels like second home to me.:old_wink:

hmm I went to epcot back in may of 2006, I thought it was neat, all of the different countries squished into one park. I loved mission-space...I was the commander. anywho I liked epcot, it just didn't have that disney feel to it. I thought the CM back in florida were a little rude. I also didn't care for the ride soran' I thought it would be about florida, but it was the same as in DCA, except the line was 3 times longer...I also didn't care for the world fireworks spectacular.

Epcot is my favorite park in the whole wide world, though DisneySea ranks a close second. Such awesomeness.

Both Tokyo DisneySea and Epcot show how good a Disney park can be when they have the proper budget. They are without a doubt the best second gates ever created, though I like DisneySea more. Theming wise, DisneySea has it beat.

The only things I like about Epcot is Illuminations, Mission Space, and Test Track... Oh! And Innoventions! I love slamming the doors!

I've never been in Inoventions. I was actually the engineer on Mission Space.

EPCOT is my second favorite park after DL. However, EPCOT has really changed. It used to showcase breakthrough rides with edu'cational themes. I have seen the rides on DVD documentaries and am incredibly amazed about how great they were. The only one I remember is Horizons. Today's EPCOT is all about thrills. Think about it. Everything in The Living Seas is Nemo-themed, and Mission: Space is the same old stuff we learn about space travel with a thrilling weightless ride. Then World of Motion was replaced with Test Track, as that seems to be more important than learning about the history of transportation.

I like EPCOT today, but after seeing those DVDS. I want to see the EPCOT of yesterday, much like I would want to see the Disneyland of yesterday. I just like nostaligia. But World Showcase remains largely unchanged sans a few updated attractions.

I really enjoyed EPCOT. My boys went around and collected all the passport stamps from the various World Pavillions. My only complaint was there were too many drunk people there. I was a little disappointed in that fact. Disney is supposed to be a family location, but my boys had to interact with drunk college students stumbling from one beer hut to the next. No major issues though. All in all, it was fun.

Epcot has seen more thrilling attractions in recent years, but that came out of some roaring criticism of the park for a total lack of attractions. I did not know Horizons or World of Motion (though I'm told I spent 6 straight hours in World of Motion as a 5 year old), but with the current attraction listing, I think there's a very healthy balance in Epcot.

Test Track is a terrific ride that's originally themed and not done on the cheap, and the same can be said about Mission Space. Certainly nothing to yawn about with Mission Space, and I was really impressed with its theme of teamwork. The addition of Soarin' offers another E-ticket that's originally-themed and brings people into The Land pavilion. That was a great idea to do it that way I thought. It made me spend more time in The Land than any other pavilion as named like Ellen DeGeneres turned me in the other direction.

E-tickets, dark rides, shows like American Adventure, a fireworks show that totally blows you away in IllumiNATIONS, and the best theme park practical joke ever in 'The Beverly' all make Epcot a fantastic park.

I remember when I went to Epcot in 1998 they had that "Ice Station Cool" which was like walking through a big ice cave and dropping you off into a shop with free coke sodas from around the world! Do they still have that there?

Ice Station Cool has been remodeled into Club Cool. Beverly is a palate clearing aperitif that has a less than appealing flavor to most.

As for EPCOT overall, having very clear memories of what it used to be and what it is now makes me wish they expanded rather than remodeled. I love Mission Space but Horizons was one of the best dark rides around. Test Track is incredible and, while I miss World of Motion less than Horizons, it was still a really good attraction. It is too bad those could not have been additions to the park rather than changes.

As for the rest of Future World, I do not have a problem with repurposing the Living Seas. This is a neat pavilion, but I always thought it lacked something - maybe a Nemo redo will help. I miss the original Living with the Land boat ride - Listen to The Land was a great soundtrack for this attraction. And speaking of music I miss - Tomorrow’s Child in SSE. Overall, the changes/updates in these attractions (while I do not think necessarily improved them) were OK. I do not believe the same can be said of the abomination that is Journey into Imagination. If the current attraction were the original, I would think it was a cute ride. But unfortunately, what it replaced was incredible and it makes the current attraction look horrible in comparison.

World Showcase is just downright awesome. While it could have a few more attractions (I just don't have to see movies in France, Canada, and China on every trip - even circlevision movies), there is little, in my opinion, to complain about. It is a neat snapshot of a bunch of places I may or may not get to visit in my lifetime. It is not like going there, but you can get a feel. Besides, without World Showcase, how could you take a beer tour of the world?

My two cents - EPCOT is my favorite! It has the best rides and the some good eating spots. The crowds move right along with the way EPCOT is set up. Having a pint in Germany is not bad either....

This is definitely more of a park for adults. Its my wifes favorite and probably my second favorite behind AK. Sure there is alot of walking, but its fun to see and learn a little about different cultures and countries. There is a new interactive game there that is testing for kids based on the Kim Possible TV show thta the kids really seem to love so in that sense Epcot is trying to help make learning fun for the kids.

The boat ride is still there :)

They added Soarin' onto the Northeast part of the pavilion. Living with the Land takes up most of the Southeast side.

That's what people say to pacify those whining about the fact it's a clone. Star Tours has been awaiting a new film for years & look how long that's taken even post-Eisner.

That's true.
For me, I still think that Star Tours and Soarin' Over California/ Soarin' are great rides.
I wish they would start kicking things into drive instead of always worring about these major celebrations. Just a new video for Star Tours will bring in alot of the Star Wars fans and alot of the Disney fans. Then have a few new things to help boost the redesigned attraction.

Going off topic:
There's alot of clones out there, It's sort of sad when there's two exact attractions in the same country. If they could use the same ride technology, say like Soarin', but design a different video or concept for it.
I mean, some clones are nice because they're not the exact same, they have different ride styles. For example: The differnet Space Mountain's, Big Thunder's, and Splash Mountain's. There are more of course.

I dont believe that Epcot is ''all crappy thrill rides now". You are saying that the technology that was created to build Mission:Space is lame, and did not help progressive theme park and the world into the future by providing new ways of entertaining people. And you're also saying that Soarin' is a bad attraction because it's considered to be a thrill attraction. What if instead of flying over California, they were flying over farms the entire time and laboratories. Because farms grow the crops and provide good nutrition and the laboratories design new advances in technology which helps with creating a better, less polluted world of tomorrow.

Saying that Mission:Space is the worst attraction that Disney has ever made is an opinion, not a fact.

For a theme park to remain successful, they need to change things around and work with new ideas.
If an Experimental Prototype Community Of Tomorrow remained the same for 20 years, it really wouldn't be too experimental nor a coummunity of tomorrow anymore.

The world is always changing. As nice as keeping things the same forever, it is almost impossible to do.

I hope this gave people enough to talk about and share their own ideas :)

Neither Mission Space nor Soarin have anything to do with the theme of EPCOT. If they changed Soarin over California to Soarin over the world that would fit in with the theming of the park.;)

Time to post an opposing view:

Mission:Space definitely has a lot to do with the intent of EPCOT (spelled intentionally.) EPCOT was about the future; Communication, Sea, Imagination, Land, Energy, Life - all of those focused on one way or another on how the future would be shaped by those categories.

Many of lifes conviences we have today is because of projects Mercury, Gemini, and Apollo. I have no doubt that if we set our minds to reaching another planet then many more breakthroughs would aid our everyday life.

I think Soarin was implemented a little quick in my opinion. I would like to see it expanded to the US or the World - which is somethng they might do in the future. Then it would fit in with the theme of EPCOT. (as you said)

I'm not a huge fan of Epcot... whenever I go we spend the ENTIRE DAY (opening to closing) there... it's a lot of walking, which would normally be fine, but considering it's so HOT compared to Alaska it wears on me FAST lol *whines*

I LOVE 'Illuminations' and I love walking around the different world pavillions, but the rides are either so slow and 'boring' or they are too much of a thrill for me so there's not a lot I really enjoy. I spent most of my time with the manatees last time we were there lol

Hmm lets put it this way, I don't hate Soarin' because it's a thrill ride, I hate it because it ruins the theme. It replaced my most favorite Disney attraction ever - Food Rocks - and I think it makes The Land Pavillion look like an airport. Oh, and the reason many people don't respect Mission SPACE is because it replaced one of the best Disney attractions ever made in my opinion (Horizons), it no way compares to that, and I think is a bad 2-3 min fly-through that has no reride value what so ever to me, its not classic material and I don't think it ever will be.
