Okay so I'm planing on Visiting the park soon solely to film Fantasmic. I'm pretty serious about it, so much that one could call it a production of sorts. I think I'm going to use the SONY VX-2000 to capture the show. My concern is about the qulity of picture being that it will be shot in the dark. So any advice...? I've seen some pretty nice vids of Fantasmic so should I worry at all?
make sure you white balance and set your exposure properly. look in your manual for explanations of it. you want to keep your iris open as much as you can with out it getting to grainy

Watch your focus. Most of the scenes can be done by just keeping it set to infinity like you would fireworks, but it's very different for things like Mickey on stage and a closeup of one of the ships right in front of you. Autofocus can get iffy sometimes going back and forth. Also, characters like mickey are really lit up that you get much more glare than you want and the face/costume isn't fully detailed.

Hey thanx! I'll keep all of this in mind.

another thing too is they do the show two times so you can get the close ups on the second show (or visa versa) and edit them together. ;)

that you can alter your exposure, or put a filter on, or shutter settings, or aperture etc...

I plan on arriving and setting up parallel from the Tom Sawyer river stage/shack. I intend on getting a wide range of angles and shots so I?ll be staying for the two shows the coming back another for more day. My first shot will be the establishing shot. The second will be improvisation. I want it to look good but I still want it to have the sensibility that is was recorded live. So consequently, due to the nature of the show setup, there will be wider shots. And of course I will share with Visions Fantastic! :)
