There's the official website: www.tot1899.com (http://www.tot1899.com). It's in Japanese. But the intro is creepy (read: scary!)...

Then there's www.jtcent.com (http://www.jtcent.com). Which includes a backstory.

If one of these doesn't have what you're looking for, I suggest a Google or any search.

That TOT1899 is the coolest site.

Yeh, its in Japanese but if you just keep clicking on stuff it takes you all the way through the Garden, into the lobby and into the Library with the shattering Stain class!

Ooooh.

So if you get bored have a click over there.

And of course, stick to Joes Hightower Hotel page cos hes cool.

Raise your hand if the intro made you jump and lose sleep that night!

Tokyo's Tower of Terror will not be opening until Fall 2006. I'm not sure of the exact date though. I know they've been testing the elevator shafts and they recently took down the construction walls in the front.

Btw, you should change the title of this thread...There's a famous landmark in Japan called Tokyo Tower, which looks similar to the Eiffel Tower in France! That's a BIG difference from TOT!

Did you keeping clicking on things on the site though?

It takes you into the Lobby and to the Library with the disappearing Idol.

It's pretty much the ride but animated.

Oh, except for the lift dropping I spose.

Its like a fun little game.

The Tokyo Tower of Terror looks like it has a very promising storyline that fits perfectly for the American Waterfront theme.

Yay! Finally a original storyline for a ride that is not based off from a new movie.

Yes. This has been discussed numerous times on other forums, and it is indeed Joe Rhode who was used as a model for Harrison Hightower III.

THANK you! When my son and DIL got married in Tokyo this past January, they went up to the top of the Tokyo Tower for pictures. When I saw this thread I got excited to learn how the Tokyo Tower was Disney related.

I just watched that video of tokyo tot. I am dissappointed. Like. The building...amazing, the preshow......the greatest preshow any disney ride has EVER had, the actual ride........Same thing as DCA's. Like I was expecting it to be better like WDW's. But its not. It was like you looked at a ghost (like DCAs) then he fell, then you go up, then your looking at a mirror (like DCAs) and you disappear (like dcas) and then the idol comes up and you start dropping. They spent too much money on the building.

AlexLoup
09-02-2006, 11:46 PM
Um... that is what is supposed to happen, it is based on DCA since that is the one imangineers(Spelling) liked, (they have even said that the MGM has flaws.)

plus it goes well with. Please let's not get into which tower is better, they each have their own pros and cons, (I have had to deal with it on another site I'm sick of arguing) it's just Tokyo ToT has DCA.

Plus you haven't see what happens on the otside of the building have you?
And no they did not spend too much on the building itself.

Exactly. The DCA version is not any worse than MGM's Tower, and I really don't have a preference over which I like better.

Oh yeah there is no video for it... outside of the building, where Hightower got strcuk before he went poof, (based on the window) there is green lighting gathering there, and when one of the three elevators reach the area where the door opens, the lighting will travel down the buliding and surrond the ouside of the elevator, like it is striking it, which then the elevator will fall.

It's a very cool effect, mostly at night when you can see it better.

Okay another person on another site found this:

If this is spam I'm sorry. It is the Lighting effect on the tower.

And for those who want to look at pics of the lighting,

Again if this is spam I'm sorry I just thought people would like to see this (spam is different in some fourms.)

Did you go on TOT???

wdwmickeyfan
09-03-2006, 05:25 PM
Nope, it didn't open for soft openings yet. I did go on ALMOST everything else in both TDL and TDS. Everything was a walk-on during the week I visited.

RankoAnime
09-03-2006, 05:28 PM
^^Lucky! TDL too?! Most rides at TDS were practically walk-ons when we went, but TDL was crazy crowded. But, I got to see Stitch a gazillion times, and that's what mattered most!

Back on topic...I'm glad TOT wasn't open when PMM and I went. I know Matt would've wanted to go on it, but there's NO way I would've gone on it. I nearly had a heart attack on our TOT!

Yep! Even Pooh's Hunny Hunt and BLAB were near walk-ons. I rode Buzz twice and Pooh 10 times in one day!

That would be fun! I have a question though...how did you guy split the budget?

PeoplemoverMatt
09-03-2006, 09:04 PM
Simple, we paid seperate for just about everything. We made the major purchases through a local Travel agency that accomodated our together-but-seperate-payment desires. Score one for humans over automated websites.

What about the cost of the hotel room?

EDIT: By the way, the MiraCosta was the BEST Disney hotel I've stayed at. Killer location and you can't beat the superb views. Nothing beats watching BraviSEAmo from the comfort of your own room. It gives you clear vantage points of everything (except our room had a tower which blocked the volcano!), and beats watching over the heads of other people. Takes like one minute to get from the room to TDS via the private entrance.

PeoplemoverMatt
09-03-2006, 10:01 PM
We stayed at the Hilton Tokyo Bay which gave us great accomodations for half of the next-highest room rate & was about a fifth of MiraCosta's room rate. We were a 3-minute walk/shuttle bus trip from the Bayside Station which dropped us at the door of either TDL or TDS. No muss, no fuss, and a hilarious Mickey audio spiel on the bus.

We had seperate rooms so we just paid for our own room, otherwise we would have booked together/paid seperate like we did the airplane.

You know...I really should start a new "TDR visit" thread instead of hijacking this one.

PeoplemoverMatt
09-03-2006, 10:16 PM
Well it's on-topic in the sense that the TDR visit will have the new Tower of Terror at the top of the must-ride list! But yeah, a specific thread in the Meets & Events forum would be most appropriate.

if there is one think about tokyo tot. Its the intro movie/presentation. The best any ride has had. I just thought it would do more meaning go forward/backward, so on so fourth. But I am still mindboggled on how the idol disappeared. Like. how? Why cant we have somthing like that. Do any of you know how it works? I am gonna try and findout how id could work.

Harrison Hightower III
09-06-2006, 03:06 PM
Something tells me that it like goes into the back wall (you know the part with like the window grid thing) and it switches to the other side since in some pics its on ethier side.

Update!!!
HA!!! I finally figured it out!!! It goes down into the podium!!! For proof look at this video near the bottom: http://blogs.yahoo.co.jp/o_ohrk/39113265.html . Oh and when your done watching look at the bottom of the stand that it stands on. You'll see a small hole for where the idol goes down!!!
