The WDW version is better in that respect, but ultimately it starts to rely way too much on the projection-on-the-water effect. And that Pocahontas thing doesn't work at all.
Both versions are flawed, but in different ways. They should get me to direct it. I'd turn it into a masterpiece! Of course, I'd also bring it about a million dollars over-budget.

I completely agree with you! Yes, Fantasmic is a great show, but it seriously need to update the middle of the show. I'm not saying to add stuff from features from the past 10 years (Hercules, Treasure Planet, Mulan, etc.) and just cut out what is already there. Just, make the scenes more visually interesting/exciting (like, why not have actual FLYING pink elephants above the audience or something instead of projections?). What I would also like to see are elements from under appreciated Disney films getting into the act that could fit into the shows tone and theme. For instance, the Horned King and the cauldron itself from The Black Cauldron. I know the movie wasn't the best of Disney, but I seriously think that the villain and premice of the film would work in the realm of Fantasmic. Finally, I firmly believe that WDW Fantasmic should have a facelift. I remember thinking to myself the first time I saw it "They replaced pirates with Pocahontas?!?".
