Well from San Diego it certainly can! I would say if you're between 60 and 200 miles a train ride is faster especially if you're traveling down the coast. If you're along the California Coast and between Santa Barbara and Ventura or In San Diego County or in Palm Springs then you better believe a train ride will save you time. \

I know from experience that driving from San Diego to Disneyland could take 3 or 4 hours because of traffic. A train ride is 2 hours from station to station (not including the time it takes you to get to the San Diego station). A train ride from Sacramento is pushing it; personally I'd rather ride an airplane.


Not to mention a train ride saves wear and tear on yourself. Whenever I drive long distances I get tired. I was just in Mission Valley today and I rode the San Diego Trolley and it took an hour and would have taken me 20 minutes by car. I'm glad I did it! What's the hurry, it's a Slappy Hour! The parking lot in this place is notoriously bad.
