It's simple. At every park they have several cast members spread out near the best photo locations. (i.e., right in front of the floral Mickey in the MK or the Tree of Life in the AK). You can easily spot the photo pass cast members because they have a high end digital camera and are usually wearing a khaki photographers vest. The cast member will position you in front of the attraction/landmark and snap a few photos of you with their camera. They will even take pictures of you with your camera so you don't have to worry about someone in your group being left out of the shot. When they are finished taking your picture they give you a card with a barcode on it that they have already cross referenced with your photos. You can use the same card with every photo pass cast member.
From there you have two options. You can go to the various photo locations at the parks and see the photos and even order them on the spot. Or you can look on the back of your card for the website
www.DisneyPhotoPass.com, enter the access code on your card and edit your pictures to your liking. Like I said in my last post we decided to order all of our pictures on CD which was a huge savings.
But I think the coolest part of the photo pass is the creative minds of the photo pass cast members. On some photos they had us point to the ground in front of us and told us to look surprised. When we saw the photo they had added a picture of Stitch breaking through the concrete. In another photo my niece cupped her hands in front of her and they added Tinkerbell to the photo so it looked like she was sitting in her hands. They also added the rose from Beauty and the Beast and Cinderella's castle as an option. If you use your photo pass when your have your picture take with a character you can add the autograph of that character to your photo. The possibilites are endless and it's all free up until you buy the photos. We just got our Disney Photo Movie DVD which has our photos mixed in with video and music from WDW and it's a fantastic souvenir.
