'Tinker Bell'
Disney's 'Tinker Bell' due in October 08
First Look: 'Tinker Bell' will fly solo, straight to DVD
USA Today
Disney is finally giving the Peter Pan sidekick her very own movie — and it's just the start of a fairy princess reign. The computer-animated Tinker Bell, out Oct. 28 on DVD and Blu-ray ($30 and $35), is the first of four fairy films in the works, a new one launching each year.
The movie represents something bigger, too: a refocusing of Disney's straight-to-DVD strategy. The studio will stop releasing sequels of classics such as Bambi, Lady and the Tramp and Cinderella, which have been a rich source of revenue. (Last year's Cinderella III, for instance, took in more than $80 million, estimates the Redhill Group tracking firm.) Instead, they'll go for "more original work, original stories," says John Lasseter, the force behind such animated hits as Cars and Ratatouille.

Disney makes another change to 'Tinker Bell' movies
Cinema Blend
As you may remember, Tinker Bell has never talked before. In previous movies she speaks with the voice of chimes or a bell, but no human understands her other than Peter Pan. Obviously that has to change for a line of movies following the famous fairy, and King of the Hill star Brittany Murphy was given the part. This week it was announced that someone else now has the job: Mae Whitman.
Whitman has worked with Disney previously, providing vocal work for The Jungle Book 2. She is probably best known for her voice work on Avatar: The Last Airbender, but you can see her in physical form way back in Independence Day where she plays the President’s daughter (and still provides one of the movie’s killer emotional moments for me).
