Lately I have been thinking about what Advent is about and how most people celebrate Christmas all during Advent, completely ignoring the spiritual preparation for Christmas. I also think about how, as a Catholic Christian, I celebrate Christmas from Christmas Eve to Ephinany and how sad it is to see the commercial build up to one day - people acting like the entire month is Christmas with a big party at the end of the month that is The Big Day - and then after that the decorations come down just when Christmas is actually happening.
I love Christmas-time, which is really the Advent Season, for many of the reasons already mentioned, but I guess lately what Christmas means to me is that a lot of people are really missing out on the real sense of wonder, love, and fullfillment of a spiritual connection with God. I realize that some people just get the warm fuzzies over Christmas but are really missing the truly good stuff.
